Girls Virtue Summit

What's Offered:

Girls: Virtue Summit

"Summit is an event for young girls, ages 8-12 and their fathers. It is a simulation in which the girls, referred to as “handmaidens”, participate in a medieval-type plot where they have the opportunity through play and imagination to learn what it means to be a real Princess. A Princess is a daughter of God and therefore, her actions are consistent with her divine heritage. She is virtuous and courageous. Handmaidens will overcome challenges and learn that they can do hard things. They are mentored throughout the day by loving youth leaders and adults in a safe environment. At the end of the day, Fathers arrive as escorts to a Royal Feast and Ball to celebrate!"

Registration usually in March and the event is usually held in June.

Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point

What's Offered:

There are five main sections to Thanksgiving Point's new Natural History Museum. First there's a curiosity garden. (I haven't seen that section yet - the day I went was too windy - so please let us know what cool things they have there!)

Second, there's kidopolis. This is designed for younger children and it is GREAT introduction to different careers. They also have lots of fun introductions to music and rhythm.

Third, they have an engineering section. It wasn't completely finished when I went, but they did have big pretty-much-indistructable foam blocks to build with.

Fourth, they have a waterworks section. This has several GREAT engineering and natural disaster exhibits. Not to mention fun water play. (Bring an extra change of clothes so the kids can go all out!)

Fifth, they have an amazing rainforest section. This has lot of fun science exhibits and a huge playground.

Keep in mind that this museum is designed for younger kids. (Under ten I'd say . . .)

Crandall Historical Printing Museum

What's Offered:

As visitors to the Crandall Museum learn through hands-on experience the methods of invention and printing, they also are taught by expert docents the significant impact printing has had on world history. Outreach programs, community events, research, publication and academic support are part of the museum's educational mission. During the Provo Freedom Festival they have also have exhibits on the colonial days.  They have three areas of study: Johannes Gutenberg (1455 AD), 18th Century, and the 19th Century.

What's Offered:

For Great Utah fieldtrips there is Arches, Bryce, Canyonlands, Cedar Breaks, Dinosaur National Monument, Glen Canyon Recreation Area, Golden Spike Historical Site, Great Basin national park (NV), Mesa Verde (Colorado), Rainbow Bridge and more.

According to Wikipedia, "The "Junior Ranger Programs" are activities prepared especially for 5–12 year old visitors to the properties of the National Park Service. Children and their families participate in the program by completing prepared activity books which are generally free, but in a few cases can cost up to $3. The activity books direct children to areas they might otherwise miss, or to things of special interest to the age group. The booklets contain information that helps children and their families discover the importance of a park on their own terms, and decide what the park means to them personally. After completing the specified amount of pages for the child's age group, the participant is awarded a patch, badge and/or certificate, unique for each park."
