Utah Opera

What's Offered:

Opera-tunities Nights

  • Junior and senior high school students with their teachers or parents are invited at a minimal charge to attend final dress rehearsals of main stage productions on the Thursday before Opening Night in Salt Lake City's Capitol Theatre with events running from 7-10 p.m.

Tours of Utah Opera Production Studios

  • See where the Utah Opera magic is created. Highlights of the tour include Costume Shop, Prop Studio, Set Storage and Shop, and Assembly Bay.

Online Learning Materials

  • We now offer online learning materials about each main-stage opera. Area scholars create online learning materials for our patrons. Two weeks preceding each opera's opening night (or earlier), the lessons for the opera will be available on our website.

Internships/Job Shadowing

  • Interested high school students can explore several facets of arts organization operations, administration, education, development, and marketing, or they can choose to focus on a single area. We offer opera-based production opportunities in the costume shop, the scenic design studio, and stage management. Students are contracted for 45 hours of work with an individual mentor in the organization. Internships are unpaid, but can often be used for academic credit with schools.
  • We also offer half or full day job shadowing opportunities for high school.
